Established in 1994, the Alkesh Dinesh Mody Institute for Financial and Management Studies (ADMIFMS) was founded as a department of the University of Mumbai to address the growing need for professionally trained managers and finance professionals capable of navigating the evolving landscape of business and capital markets in India. Since its inception, the institute has emerged as a hub of academic excellence, industry interface, and research in the domain of management and finance.
ADMIFMS offers six comprehensive academic programs:
- Master of Management Studies (MMS)
- Master of Science in Finance (M.Sc. Finance)
- Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS)
- BMS-MMS Integrated (5 year)
- B.Com (Retail Operations Management) (AEDP)
- Doctoral Research Program (Ph.D. in Management)
The institute actively fosters industry-academia engagement through structured initiatives such as guest lectures, panel discussions, workshops, and placement opportunities. Students regularly interact with industry leaders, social entrepreneurs, and subject matter experts from diverse sectors including Consulting, Digital Marketing, E-Commerce, IT/ITES, Telecom, Ed-Tech, Media, Energy, NBFCs, Banking, Manufacturing, FMCG, and Supply Chain Management. These interactions significantly enhance students' exposure to current trends and employment landscapes.
ADMIFMS has also established a strong culture of faculty and student-led research. Faculty members have received prestigious research and consultancy grants from national bodies such as NIEPA, ICSSR, and others, further validating the institute’s academic credibility.
The student experience at ADMIFMS is enriched through a peer-driven learning ecosystem, supported by faculty-mentored student committees such as the Placement Committee, Media Committee, Alumni Committee, Artillery Committee, Social Responsibility Club, Entrepreneurship Cell (E-Cell), and the Cultural Committee. These bodies organize co-curricular activities, facilitate internships, and foster leadership development beyond the classroom.
Moreover, the institute regularly conducts seminars, conferences, and collaborative events in partnership with reputed organizations such as ISTD (Indian Society for Training and Development) and NHRDN (National HRD Network), ensuring that students are continually exposed to evolving practices and policy debates in the world of business and finance.
The institute has been ranked among top Government B Schools by various reputed magazines like: 'The Week' (Hansa Survey) Year 2023-24; Among top 30 Government B Schools 'India Today' (India Today's Best B School Survey) 2024-25; Among top 30 Government B Schools - Fortune India Magazine (ACRA Survey) - 2024-25.
Apart from above, the institute has also received the MCX Award 2025’ for Best Supporting Partner in Education, Awareness, and Financial Literacy; It has also received award as ‘Best Academic Partner’ recognition by ISTD (Mumbai Chapter).
Under the innovative University Department Ranking Framework (UDRF), the institute was awarded ‘First Rank’ in ‘Best Institute- UDRF’ in ‘Management, Sub-Campus, Model College and Institutions’ category based on the overall performance under set of Matrix (faculty output, RPA, NEP initiatives, LAP, Governance, Students Support, AP, conferences and Collaborations) along with securing ‘First Rank’ as Best Academic Department for Administration.
University of Mumbai
Established on 18th July 1857, the University of Mumbai is one of India’s oldest and most esteemed institutions of higher education. As the largest among the first three modern universities in the country, it has played a pivotal role in shaping India's academic and intellectual landscape. Accredited with an ‘A++’ grade by the NAAC in August 2021, the University achieved a CGPA of 3.65, one of the highest in Maharashtra. It was also recognized as a UGC Grade I University in 2024. Internationally, under QS World University Rankings in 2026, The University of Mumbai was ranked 664 overall (17th in India & 67th in Asia). In NIRF 2025 rankings, it holds an overall rank of 54 and rank 12 among the State Universities.
A testament to its cultural heritage, the University’s iconic Rajabai Clock Tower received the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Award for Cultural Heritage Conservation in 2019.
